It isn't long until Jason is knocking on her door, dragging a hand through his face because what the hell is he even doing? He stopped making sense long ago but no one seems to be able to stop him.
She opens the door immediately, as if she was waiting and possibly even listening for steps near the door. She looks... pleased to see him. Hopeful, in a strange way. Some of her cheer wanes a little as she gets a look at him. The warmth remains, though. She makes one small move to pull him in before pausing, stopping, and leaning back to welcome him in.
Jason notices her stepping back and can't help but give her the slightest grin as he reaches to squeeze her shoulder. Which has become kind of a habit with Cass by now, for some reason. But still, figures she'd get it right.
She shrugs. Not much to say; she's as good as she had been. Busy. Taking piano lessons now, there's the job thing... she's filling her life with all the things she figures might be useful, might make her understand the world and other people better. Whether she's doing it for herself or to be a better Bat when she gets home is anyone's guess, even hers. Her view and understanding of herself doesn't separate the two, after all. She's entirely holistic when it comes to that, a product of effectively no civilian life, persona, or past.
He shrugs. It was an eventful Valentine's but all in all it ended up better than he could have expected. He's still on edge, full of tension, but it could be worse.
"Do you want to go out and eat something? Or were you planning on staying in?"
Food was food was food, generally. She'd never really been anywhere special and most of what she ate was in cafes or what Alfred had made for her. Here, it was pretty much all cafe food.
"Tea," which she realizes isn't a food, but it's one of the few things she really has much of an opinion on. When you literally lived in the wilderness for a while and ate whatever you could find, cooked or not, healthy or not, well...
"Alfred made things."
They were tasty but other than cookies, she hadn't really known what anything was particularly called. And cookies, he had told her more than once, were not real 'food'.
Jason snorts at 'Alfred makes things'. He didn't spend all that long at the manor, most of his life has been spent in the streets. But he was still spoiled completely rotten by Alfred's food.
"He let me help in the kitchen, sometimes. It was actually kind of fun." He reaches to rub the back of his head, looking at the door. "If it's up to me I always go for chili. Or something equally spicy."
He goes there often. Being his favorite food and all. So he does an exaggerated bow as he motions at towards the door. "So, wherever you're ready, princess."
And there's no amusement in his body language, so she should be able to tell he's being honest as he closes the door behind her. "But I can quit if you don't like it."
It makes sense, in Jason's head. He's always giving people a hundred different nicknames, never really thought much about it. "It's not supposed to be literal."
She considers it for a moment before nodding and making her way away from the door, considering whether or not she's looking forward to trying chili or just having a night out at a restaurant more. Because this is new. She's never actually... done something like this.
